Siobhan left Kinloch on a Thursday morning in early June, three months to the week since she’d first sat in a service station car park outside Aberdeen and broken her own rule about reading a file before the drive, and found herself, pulling away from the small bed and breakfast on the harbour road for the last time, considerably more reluctant to leave than she’d expected to feel.
